Women's Saint-Hubert Boot

My experience with this company has been mixed. I have worn Hunter Balmoral Wellington boots for the last 10 years and due to the decline in the quality of their boots, I opted to try Le Chameau to see if these would be an improvement. Pros: 1.The website is very easy to use and when the item is in stock, quick to order and delivery also seems to arrive within a day or two of ordering. 2.The St Hubert boot came in different calf sizes, which was the main draw for me as the standard 38 calf in most wellies is not wide enough for me. 3.Return of the faulty item was straightforward, but the boots had not been worn outside. What this process would have been if I had returned after the identified fault, I cannot comment on. Cons: 1.Considering the cost of these boots at £260, the quality control process they have is questionable as the pair I received had stitching unravelling in the leather lining, and I don?t mean one stitch had come loose/ripped, the stitching was not secure and a gentle pull on the loose stitch caused the line of stitches to continue unravelling. 2.I tend to do a lot of walking in my Wellington boots and usually have to place an orthotic insole to help with comfort and support for my flat arches. These boots were absolutely terrible to walk in, the insole provided is actually glued into the boot and cannot be removed ( which I must say was surprising as only cheaper footwear makers tend not provide a removable insole) this is also the same for the £360 leather lined Chasseur?s, which I also ordered. The insole is also incredible hard and provides no support whatsoever when walking. Because the insole cannot be removed, I was unable to fit either a full or half insole into the boot and then get my foot in alongside this. I would definitely recommend that if you plan to do a lot of walking in these or have flat arches, then go for a size up, so you can fit a pair of insoles in alongside you foot. Also, give the boots a very good look over before you wear them just to make sure the quality is as it should be.

I chose these boots as you could order by calf size aswell which is really helpful. I was always getting my feet wet from rain going inside from the gap. As a guide, size 38 is not snug fit but size 36 was too fitted, my calf measured 35 .

Very well made boots and great style - unfortunately too large for me and no smaller size available at this time
