Over time technology, flair and craftsmanship have created collections for all occasions – for town and country. Discerning men and women all over the world are devotees of Le Chameau boots.
The Le Chameau rubber boot begins with the design and sourcing of our material. We pick only the finest ingredients; our natural rubber, our leathers and our neoprene linings are all of the highest quality. Our design teams explore new technologies and learn from our archives to ensure we continue to innovate while retaining timeless shapes and proven methods.
Our Process
A secret recipe, fine tuned over more than 90 years, is used to create the Chamolux rubber from which our boots are crafted. This material ensures a unique fit and superior comfort and durability.
Once every element has been gathered – the individual rubber pieces have been hand-cut and trimmed, the sole moulded, and the linings cut and made ready – the Maître bottier is ready to carefully assemble the boot.
The process involves carefully stretching the rubber pieces over an aluminium boot last, gradually forming the famous wellington boot shape. The trims and small details are then added. Once the boot has been constructed, it is ready for the final part of the process.
The final stage of creating a Le Chameau boot involves a process called vulcanisation, whereby the rubber is cooked at a precise temperature and for a set period of time to ensure optimum flexibility and durability. Once cooled, every boot is tested in water to make sure it is fully waterproof. Another quality control check and a polish follows to complete the process before the boots are wrapped and boxed, ready to make their way to their new owner.
